Well what an amazing few days away at the Cowgirls Gathering we had.
Last year I watched from the sidelines but this time took my amazing stallion Silver Big Stretch. What a great boy he was. Horses & people everywhere. Lots of new things including roping on horseback & he didn't bat an eye lid. It's smack bang in the middle of breeding season yet he was the complete gentleman. A huge thanks for my buddies Ricky, Jo Rach & of course Taj. For anyone u who couldn't make it this year make sure u mark in calendar for next year as it was fantastic! Next year we will be hitting the show pen so hold onto your hats! The partnership I have with this stallion really shows that even the wildest far fetched dreams really do come true

We had just the best time at the recent Ken Faulkner - Australian Horsemanship & Phil Monaghan, Jaquima a Freno, Classical Horsemanship. Clinic. What amazing Horsemen who have such a depth of wisdom as well as so gifted in sharing the knowledge with others. Lots of light bulb moments for me & really looking forward to working with my amazing boy Zeus to strengthen our partnership. The past year my focus has been on going right back to the bare basics of my Horsemanship journey to find & fill the gaps. Just what I needed & gosh starting to really feel it coming together
It's always exciting moving on of the girls into the maternity paddock. Not too long now I think for our darling Stella to foal. She is having a bub by our handsome boy Silver Big Stretch. Soooo can't wait to meet this bub
I had just the best day with my darling Zeus. He is such a reliable respectful boy. Still hard to believe he is a young stallion as he just never puts a foot wrong. He is always just right there with me each step of the way. Hard to get a horse that truly believes that hanging out with me goes first & foremost in every circumstance. I'm his herd & he is mine. We've learnt so much from Ken & Phil. Finally feeling like little by little we are becoming so inturned with each other
The Best way to end a very busy weekend. Hanging out with my 2 special boys. Maverick (Hollywood Groover x Ricinda Miss Trix) & Apollo (silver Big Stretch x Ricinda Fancy Pants)
I know a feeling of safety and a deep sense of calmness & peace surrounds Ricinda Ranch. I see it in the horses we raise, hearing from our visitors as well as in our own hearts. Personally from my own past traumas my sense of safety is exceptionally sensitive yet here in this tranquil valley my racing heart & trembling body always settle. It reflects so visibly in our herd, our new born foals as well as any horse that visits us. This deep sense of safety is essential in building the horse human connection. It's not limited to a sense of safety where nothing goes wrong as we know. It's about having a place where it's safe for all emotions including fear, sadness & joy. Its feeling safe so we don't shut down or push things away as we know by doing this we shut out joy & love too. This is about a sense of safety so we open our heart & soul so we can truly feel ALIVE in every way.
Apollo (Silver Big Stretch x Ricinda Fancy pants) 1 week old and such a sweetheart. Im completely smitten with him that's for sure. So proud of Zeus & Elle for having such a stunning boy
!!VERY VERY happy to announce that that colour results back on our stunning colt. Just what we had been hoping for. He is a smoky silver black including being homozygous for black. This colt the only silver black colt in existence from this silver QH line plus is a direct son of the champion Reining stallion Hollywood Groover & a grandson of the world champion stallion MJK Vaniz King Glo. Sadly the Sunday Struin QH silver lines which have pretty much all but died out except for a handful of mares. To try and preserve these silver lines before they died out completely has been very important to me. I had spent many years tracking down the only few QH silver mares from this silver QH line left alive. So breeding a high quality silver black colt who had the best bloodlines we could get from this silver line has been a long term goal for us. WE FINALLY DID IT !
This time of year is full of nervous excitement for us at Ricinda Ranch as we watch the babies bellies growing. By now we can see the bubs bouncing around in their dams’s tummies. I check each day to make sure that there are no signs of premature foaling and that things are progressing well. I love to spend this time just standing beside my girls stroking their tummies and chatting away to the unborn foal. I think connecting with them before they are born is so important and really strengthens the horse – heart- human bond. My foals are all born with a strong sense of ‘knowing me’ when they arrive as the relationship between us begins forming really from the moment they are first conceived. You won’t see me putting halters on my babies until much later in their development as the foundation to our connection isn’t me forcing my human ways onto them. Its formed by me connecting to them in their own language, as much as my limited human ability allows. When I talk about language I’m not just talking about the spoken word. It’s also about touch, body language, energy, thoughts, intention, spirit and so so much more. It might sound a bit odd to some of you however Im sure so many of you will resonate with this.
